Kitchen & Bath Faucet Repair/Replacement

A dripping faucet is more than a nuisance. Leaks can damage the faucet and create the perfect environment for mold and mildew. If turning your faucet on or off is difficult, it might be time for repair or replacement.

How do I know if my faucet needs to be repaired or replaced?

Kitchen faucets typically last 15 years or more, but you may need to replace them sooner. Besides difficulty with turning it on and off, there are a few other signs that you need to have a master plumber check your faucet:

  • You notice cracked or broken parts. It’s important to catch minor damage before it gets worse. If you don’t, you could be looking at a much more costly repair down the line.

  • Your water pressure is irregular. Unusually high or low pressure can indicate issues with your faucet.

  • There’s rust, mold, or corrosion around your faucet. These signs can all mean there’s a leak in your faucet. As with visible cracks, these issues can get significantly worse (and more expensive) the longer you wait.

Why would I replace my faucet instead of repairing it?

Whether a faucet needs repairs or replacement depends on your faucet. With less expensive faucets, the cost of even minor repairs may be more than the cost of a new faucet. An experienced plumber may recommend investing in a replacement faucet to save you money and reduce the likelihood of more repairs. If you have a pricier faucet, it may be worth the money to repair it.

Depending on the specific issues with your faucet, repair may not be possible. In this case, your plumber may recommend a replacement regardless of cost.

You might also opt for a replacement due to functionality or aesthetics. You may want a pull-out faucet to make it easier to wash dishes or a taller faucet that creates more space between the faucet and your bathroom sink. Some faucets include voice control or other advanced features. If your tastes have changed, you may want a new faucet simply because you like the look of it better. These are all great reasons to invest in a new faucet, even if your existing faucet still functions.
